Error while enabling Lync services for the user

Get the error 'Error while enabling Lync services for the user ' when creating a user.  Are there any further logs I can look at?

I've been through the troubleshooting guides and it does not look like it is any of these;

28. While creating new user(s) along with Lync Telephony options, either of these error messages is displayed: "Error while enabling Lync services for the user" or "Error occurred while enabling Lync Telephony options". What could be the possible reasons?

 

Mentioned below are the possible reasons for the above errors. Rectifying them would help you in avoiding these errors:

  • Missing values required for the settings of the required Telephony type. The values could be missing because of:
    • Providing an empty value for the settings / the settings being left empty.
    • You might have used a naming format but the attributes specified in the naming format might not have any values. For example, for 'Line URI' you might have specified the value as 'tel:%telephoneNumber%' but the attribute telephone number might have been empty.
  • Duplicate values for the settings that must have unique values. For example, in 'Line URI' you might have provided a value that another user already has and this might have caused the error.
  • The LDAP attributes provided in the settings might have some special characters. For example, you might have user '%mail%' to provide values to a Lync Telephony setting and the email address could have special characters like: %, $, #, etc. Though the mail attribute supports special characters, the Lync settings do not support these special characters.
Also saw this post https://forums.manageengine.com/topic/error-creating-lync-enabled-user-are-there-logs-i-can-look-in  and I tried the solution in there which didn't work.

Oh.  Never mind.  I had added the account used in domain settings to the relevant Lync security groups but the AD manager service had not been restarted since adding that account to those groups.
A restart of the service and it is all now working.

ADMP Report export to csv html and xlst fails

We ran an NTFS Permissions report for a large file server. The report took four hours to run and completed successfully with 122 AD permission groups in the report. When we try to export to csv, html, or xlst (we tried all three types), the export runs for about an hour then we receive a server connection error, which stops the process. We tried extending the timeout on ADMP, but the export still fails.

All previous exports had no problems.

AdManager Plus won't start after Update to 6.3

I've installed the update 6.3 for Build Numbers 6200 through 6292 (see:  https://www.manageengine.com/products/ad-manager/service-pack.html) yesterday. I've installed the Update like mentioned here:

When the update was finished, I tried to restart the server:
- Start Service "ManageEngine ADManager Plus"
- Execute StartDB.bat

When i try to open the webpage I get an error "The page can't be displayed. If we try to start the Server as an application(Start → All Programs → ADManager Plus    Start ADManager Plus) we get this Error:



Running the "run.bat" script results in the same error. Can anyone help me solving this problem ?

built in admin logs on by default - allowing anyone to logon with full admin rights

It appears as though the built in admin username and password are cached somehow such that they are the default value for all users - who are able to login with now full admin rights even though they don't actually know the password!

We didn't realize this previously as we only had a single user license being used by one person, but we have now purchased additional licenses and are rolling it out - and found that all users could log on as admin and it was the default.

Urgent assistance required!

Hi Val,

This happens if the default password of the 'admin' account is not changed. Please login to the application and click on the 'Change password' link to set a new password.

Since there are multiple reasons for this specific error we might to analyze the log files of the installation to narrow down the issue.

ADManagerPlus 6.3: Installation failing, Error While Unpacking

Hi everyone

I want to install ADManagerPlus 6.3 on a Server 2008R2. The server is freshly installed and I am getting an error on the step where it is Unpacking JAR Files, I get an error saying Error While Unpacking.

I have search the forums but I can't get concrete answers to the solution as it always appears like Support is taking the solutions offline. We want to try the product so that we can purchase it for our company, so please help.

The account used to install it with has admin rights. The setup is run as Administrator. All updates are installed on this server with the latest version of Java RE.

I have seen this error before but never logged anything on the forums.

I kindly request you to try installing the application on another server (you can even install this in your laptop), just for testing.

AD Manager Plus Upgrade not working

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to upgrade my current version of AD Manager Plus 6.2.8 (Build 6280) to the new 6.3 (Build 6300). I downloaded the ManageEngine_ADManager_Plus_6_2_0_SP-10_0.ppm file from the website. When I start the Updatemanager, the process starts but it always ends with an "Uninstalling" and then an "Uninstallation Completed" status.

My Windows version is W2K8 R2 Standard SP1 64bits

Powershell Custom script Error!

I've been grappling with this issue for a few days now, and can't seem to figure out what is causing the permission issues that Manage Engine is having when attempting to run my powershell custom script.

I've used the same variable calls as well as powershell custom scripts successfully on new user creation, however when i'm attempting to use custom scripts at the end of the modify users templates i'm getting permission issues.

For example i'm attempting to create a new folder upon the execution of my modify user script, but i'm getting the following error...

Custom script result: New-Item : Access to the path '%username%' is denied.  (note that %username% actually shows the correct user name for my test users...)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

To narrow down the issue, I request you to open Powershell with the user account that you have configured in the 'Domain settings' of ADManager Plus and try executing the same script. If it fails, then it could be due to insufficient privileges.

ADManager Plus - Error while creating mailbox

Hi Team,

At the time of user account creation using AD Manager Plus, I received an error stating " Only legacy mailbox is created, Could not connect to the Exchange Server. Click here to troubleshoot."

The user account has been created successfully however there is no Mailbox created.

Post which, I attempted to create user mailbox using the option " Create/Archive User Mailboxes " but then received an error stating " System.Management.Automation.RemoteException: This task does not support recipients of this type. The specified recipient mcfc.co.uk/City of Manchester Stadium/Comms - New/Users/Reception/CFA Tours is of type UserMailbox. Please make sure that this recipient matches the required recipient type for this task. ".

Could you advise what this means and if a possible fix is available?

Hi Anup,

Please find below some prerequisites for creating a proper mailbox using ADManager Plus,

Prerequistes for Exchange 2007

1. 64 bit Edition of ADManager Plus should be installed on a compatible machine. 

(You can find the architecture of the existing installation from the "Product.conf" file located at\ManageEngine\ADManager Plus\conf). 
Download the 64 bit Edition of ADManager Plus from: 

2. To create mailbox enabled users in Exchange 2007, you would require the corresponding version of Exchange Management Console (EMC) in the same machine where ADManager Plus is installed, failing which the legacy mailbox will be created.

3. If ADManager Plus is running in console mode, then you must log on to the machine as an administrator (exchange administrator).

4. If ADManager Plus is installed as NT service, kindly configure the service account with administrator (exchange administrator) privilege by following the below procedure,

  • Step 1: Click on Start->run->services.msc
  • Step 2: Locate the service name "Manageengine ADManager Plus"
  • Step 3: Right click->Go to Properties->Log On
  • Step 4: Select "This account" and provide the credentials.

  • Prerequisites for Mailbox Creation in Exchange 2010

    1.Windows  PowerShell 2.0 or above should be installed on this machine.

    2.TCP port 80 must be open between this machine and the remote Exchange 2010 Server.

    3.Remote PowerShell must be enabled for the user account specified in ‘Domain Settings’.
